Last night I had the pleasure of hosting a fund raiser and silent auction to benefit the Pine Island Montessori Academy in Davie.
All of the parents were dressed as if they were going to a Gala Ball. The Plaza East Condominiums is located right on the ocean. A beautiful view for sure. As they arrived, I played Island music the likes of Jimmy Buffett and Bob Marley. After cocktail hour, we opened the bidding for the silent auction. There were great items up for bid. From gift baskets to ipods, trips to Disney and Universal, and so much more. But the real bidding was about to begin! After dinner, I danced them for a few minutes with top hits from the Blackeyed Peas, Usher and the like. Then then started the "Live" auction. These items were made by the students in each classroom. All of these items were furniture that the children decorated. There were wooden chairs, bookshelves, picture frames, and even a wooden rocking horse. All decorated by the children.WOW! The work they did was geat AND the bidding was feirce! These items were going for hundreds of dollars! It is great to see the admiration the parents have for their children. Once all of the auctions were over I really heated things up! Everyone was having such a good time that they asked if I could stay anothe hour. WITH PLEASURE!
A great time for a great cause is always very rewarding for me.
