Helpful Wedding Tips
Below is a list of important events that take place during most wedding receptions and some helpful hints in making them wonderful memories! We highly recommend that you listen to the advice of your wedding professionals (caterer, photographer, videographer, and DJ/MC) as they have the experience coming from hundreds of weddings.
These experts can advise you on important decisions based on their many years of experience in the wedding industry. They can also recommend other vendors, based on their first hand experience at previous weddings.
Introductions of the Bridal Party (The Grand Entrance) Traditionally, this is the way to start a wedding reception. Your Eddie B & Company DJ will introduce your entire bridal party, including parents and grandparents (if you so desire). We will put this to a musical theme selected by the bride & groom. Your guests will welcome them with applause and cheers as everyone is introduced to the dance floor area.
The First Dance
All of the attention is now focused on the dance floor. As the first few notes of your first dance as husband and wife begin to play, your DJ/MC will announce the title and artist of this special song. Your first dance should be something with special meaning to the both of you. Today’s newlyweds are being more creative, often with choreographed mixed first dance selections. We can even invite your bridal party to join in during the dance. This takes some pressure off the Bride and Groom and gives your photographer/videographer a chance to capture some special moments!
The Toast
Now is the time for the Best Man, Maid of Honor, Fathers or other chosen guests to say a few words in honor of the Bride and Groom. Your DJ/MC from Eddie B & Company will provide a wireless microphone at your head table or sweetheart table and coordinate this important event. We strongly suggest not to pass the microphone around and allow open toasting. This will impact the flow of your reception.
Dinner
After the toast and blessing, dinner is usually served. The wedding DJs at Eddie B & Company feel this is a very special hour of your reception. The music will reflect & create a special atmosphere in the room. We can help you select your dinner music, that will be played at a comfortable volume so your guests can enjoy their meal and conversation. May we suggest taking you down memory lane so all age groups can enjoy and relate to the songs that will be played.
Father and Daughter Dance/Mother and Son Dance
These two dances are traditional events at a wedding reception. They can be presented after the first dance, between the salad and main course, or after dinner. These special songs can be selected from our suggested list or chosen by the bride and groom and their parents. In the Hispanic tradition, brides will almost always dance with their father first and then with the groom.
Let’s Start the Party!
As dinner is finishing, your wedding DJ is planning how to start the party. We consider the music selections you have made and we will usually begin with one of them. A specific song selected by the Bride & Groom is always welcomed, or you can leave it up to us! Sometimes a few love songs will be appropriate, it all depends on the audience we have to work with. Now it’s time to dance, laugh, and enjoy your guests!
Cake, Garter and Bouquet
Depending on the length of your reception, these events can take place an hour after dinner, or an hour before your wedding reception is over. Your DJ/MC from Eddie B & Company, will coordinate and assist you in choosing special garter and bouquet toss songs to make these traditions a fun and memorable experience.
Grand Finally
This is it! The Grand Finale! After all the planning and preparation you put into your special day, it is time to say goodnight to all of your guests. Our DJ will provide you with a list of songs to choose from and suggestions on how to conclude your wedding reception.
