Sunday was a great time!
I hosted the Bar Mitzvah for Michael and his family. It was held at GiGi's restaurant in Hollywood. A very nice place for a party. Right on the water!
As the guests came in, I played some upbeat house music. I could see everyone bopping their heads and clapping their hands. This was going to be a fun afternoon.
I introduced Mom and Dad to "The Power of Love" by Huey Lewis. Then Michael came in to "Gentleman" by PSY. The room erupted with applause! He was so happy to be there and to be the star for the day. We immediately went into the celebration HORA! It was really fun!
I then asked Zeide Carlos and Uncle Benny to do the blessings over the bread and wine. After that we did the traditional candle lighting ceremony.
Everyone that Michael called up had a big smile on their face and were very happy to be there. I could tell that Michael was a special kid that was loved by many. After that, I asked Mom and Michael to dance a special song "I hope you Dance" by Lee Ann Womack. We then did a party express line and the party began! I played music from all generations but mostly kept it top 40 for the kids. We relaxed for a few minutes and watched a video montage of Michael's life....in pictures!
I then proceeded to dance the crowd again.
It was really nice to see everyone on the dance floor.
