DJ Gregg here with this weeks installment of the "Blog".
This week I had the pleasure of hosting Rosemarie's 70th birthday party. Let me tell you...she is one cool and hip person! She wanted to have a dance party.. and that is exactly what she had.
It was located at the Newport Beach Resort on Miami Beach. If you have never been there, go check it out. It is on the ocean with great views!
As the guests arrived, I played some new school disco music. Very cool mixes by DJ Dino and Adrian Van Aalst.
I received many complements about this music.. and the guest of honor hadn't even arrived yet!
When she arrived, I introduced her in the room along with her son and husband. The guests erupted in applause. Then Paul, her son, said a few words about his awesome mom. He asked me to play "Song for Mama" by Boyz II Men.Then Paul mentioned Dan, his step dad. Rosemarie was a single mom for many years but about 15 years ago, Dan came into her life and made the family complete. I was instructed to play "Don't Want to Miss a thing" by Aerosmith. This was their wedding song. After that I invited everyone to eat.
After dinner, I opened the dance floor with a slow song and then I turned up the heat! I played a LOT of top 40, Disco, Salsa, Merengue, Bachata and even Reggaeton and Reggae.
Around 10:30 the "HORA LOCA" troop arrived and for the next hour, they knocked the socks off of everyone! It was crazy! What a great addition to the party. They did Latin dance sets, along with a lot of audience participation songs . you know.. the "Electric Slide", "Cha Cha Slide" and even the "Cupid Shuffle".
Once that was over, everyone took a well deserved break and enjoyed coffee and cake.
After that.....at this point everyone was caffeinated, sugared up and even tipsy....the party started up again. The dance floor was packed for the rest of the evening!
It was a great event and I wish Rosemarie a great life!
