On Saturday, December 7th, 2013 I played for a Holiday Cocktail party for Towers Watson at the Mandarin Oriental in the Bangkok Room on Brickell Key, Miami.
The event started with the employees of the Miami based company entering the room to music from the 50’s to present. The director of operations addressed her team and ended with recognizing several employees for their years of service and dedication to the organization,. Then it was time to have some fun. The group had a very interesting exchange of gifts. Each person was handed number as they left a wrapped gift on a table. As your number was called you took one of the wrapped gifts off the table. Now this is where it got interesting; if someone had a gift that you liked you can take that gift and that person will now have to select a new one. Once a gift has been exchanged three times that gift cannot be taken again. It was a lot of fun watching folks going back and forth to the end when the last number was called. Then it was party time. Our guests danced to music from the 50’s such as Doris Day “What Will Be, Will Be”; from the 60’s “Black is Black”; “Eight days a Week”.; “On the Floor” and much more. Latin favorites such as “No le Pegue a la Negra” La Gota Fria”; “Suavemente”; Danza Kuduro”; “Stand By Me” and more. The party goers also enjoyed reggae selections such as “Murder She Wrote”; and I’m Still In Love With You”
Happy Holidays from DJ Handel.
