On Saturday March 16th, 2013 Rapids Water Park in WPB Florida was debuting a new attraction called the Flow Rider. The Flow Rider is a mechanical wave pool which allows people to use boards and ride the actual surf. It was here that I was providing music for the occasion. Surf, Beach, and music from the surf era was the theme for the day. Festivities started at 9:30 AM with a few speeches and an introduction from Tina Hatcher the co-ordinator of the event.
I kept the music up-beat and fun highlighting songs from the Beach Boys, Jan and Dean, The Safaris ( Wipeout) The Ventures and the King of Surf Music, Dick Dale ( Pulp Fiction , Miserou). The music was greatly appreciated by both young and old but the highlight of the day was intermittent performances by 14 year old champion Flowboarder Zana Nash, AKA Xana-Kai. Zana is a professional widely accaimed FloBoarder who demonstrated surfing twists, turns and tricks on her Flowboard. She was amazing!
The crowds grew as the day progressed and we kept music flowing till the park closed at 5PM. I was making occasional announcements throughout the day to enhance the promotion and was delighted about the amount of youngsters who asked about the music. It was nice to see them enjoying music from another generation.
I want to give special thanks to all the staff at Rapids Water Park for their assistance and cordiality and again a special thanks to Tina Hatcher for a great event. I can't wait to be back!
Best regards,
John Terry
