Abe and Johanna's wedding was held aboard the Sun Dream Yacht in Ft. Lauderdale on October 13th. Many of their family members flew in from Jordan and New York to watch the two get married on the top-deck just before sunset. I started things off with a mix of alternative pop hits while guests were boarding. The bride walked down the aisle and celebrated their marriage with her husband to 99 Names of Allah by Al Asma Ul Husna. After the ceremony was over I switched it over to some pop favorites, with some requests from the guests for the cocktail hour. After some pictures it was time to introduce the newlyweds. The guests were encouraged to get really loud as I welcomed the new Mr. and Mrs. Tawfik as they walked in to Stand By Me by Prince Royce. The cheering continued as I invited them to the middle of the floor for their first dance. Abe and Johanna embraced each other as I played 3 Daqat by Abu mixed with Valio La Pena by Marc Anthony. Johanna’s father was invited soon after to join his daughter in their first dance to Es mi Niña Bonita by Vicente Fernandez followed by Abe and his mother Madeha to Baheb Omy by Mohammed. After the first dances, Johanna’s Maid of Honor had a surprise for the bride and groom. The room lights were dimmed and a belly dancer came out to perform a few songs with sword balancing and flag dances while the guests joined in to learn a few moves. After the belly dancer’s performance, I invited the guests to the dining deck for dinner while I played some flamenco jazz and the father of the bride gave a heartfelt toast. After dinner, we continued the party on the mid-deck while I played a mix of salsa, merengue and Arab music for all the guests to enjoy. I closed everything out to Treasure by Bruno Mars as we all sang along before ending the evening. Congratulations to Abe and Johanna Tawfik. I had a blast with you and your awesome family. DJ ELOW
