Hello bloggers! DJ Gregg here....with this installment of the wedding blog. on Friday, I was happy to be the DJ for Chris and Violetta. They were married aboard the Catalina yacht. I am always happy to be with the staff and crew. They are great people. As the guests boarded, I directed them to the top deck for the wedding ceremony. Once everyone was aboard, we left the dock. soon after that the ceremony started. The music was provided by a saxophone player that Chris and Violetta had invited aboard. Soon after that, the cocktail hour started. Again, music by the sax player.
Once the cocktail hour ended, I invited all of the guests down to the dining room to begin the festivities. I kept the bridal party upstairs for introductions. Soon I asked Chris and Violetta to enter the dining room. I played the "Wedding March" by Mendelssohn. Violetta is a native of Russia and wanted to bring some of their traditions into the party. So I proceeded to announce the Bread and Salt ceremony. Whoever eats the biggest piece of bread is said the be the head of the house for at least the next 24 hours. it was quite humorous. I then asked Lana, a close friend, to sing their first dance. They chose "Always Remember Us this Way". She has a great voice!. Shortly after that, Violetta's dad got up and gave a speech in Russian. I'm sure it was very special because everyone was clapping their hands! Then I asked Violetta to dance with her dad. Soon after that I invited Chris to dance with his mom. They requested "First Lady In My Life". from there they proceeded to do the traditional Kalinka dance! It was awesome!!! Everyone got up on the floor and danced. Once that ended, I asked Alena and Ricardo to say a few words. Now dinner started. I kept it light and fun. Once dinner ended, I really kicked it up s notch. I played all different types of music, even some Russian songs!
All in all it was a great night!
