On Saturday July 9th, 2011 I played for Kimberly and Antoni Forbes plus 100 family members and friends aboard the Catalina Yacht, in the Ft. Lauderdale intracoastal. The evening started with tropical music for boarding and I surprised the bride with steel drum versions of the wedding processional music she had chosen. Kimberly was very happy because she is from the Bahamas and her husband is from Jamaica. The ceremony was performed by captain Pat and I kept the music Island style for the cocktail reception. I introduced the bridal party to some carnivale music and then presented the first dance after 4 toasts and a blessing, it was "At Last" by Etta James. Once the dancing started it didn't stop, I played everything from Michael Jackson & Beyonce, to Byron Lee & Arrow. I kept the mood very festive by mixing Calypso, Socca, Reggae, R & B, and Top 40 Club music for the entire evening. I also added The Cupid Shuffle, Electric Slide, and Cha Cha Slide to change up the pace now and then. The cake cutting song was sung live by a friend of the brides which was "A Moment Like This" and Kimberly tossed her bouquet to "All the Single Ladies". We ended the evening with Dirty Bit (Time of My Life), and I must say I enjoyed the applause at the end. This was a fun wedding to play for and it took me back to the days I DJ'ed on the cruise ships. Thank you Kimberly & Antoni, I wish you all the best!!!!....DJ/MC Eddie B!
