DJ Gregg here!
I wanted to comment on the great wedding and reception that I had the pleasure of hosting on Saturday. Jonathon and Melissa were married at the Deer Creek Country Club. Again, as always, Michel and his staff did a wonderful job.
The patio was decorated with candles surrounding the "altar" for the reception. As the guests arrived, I had some contemporary prelude music playing. Nice but not over the top.
The bridal party entered to "Over the Rainbow" by Israel K'amakawiwo. It was timed out perfectly. Then the bride made her entrance.
"Marry Me" by Train was the song of choice. She really looked beautiful. After the vows were said, I played a very unique exit song " I Got You" by James Brown. It went over great! The crowd applaudly loudly, and off they went to take pictures.
During cocktail hour, the flavor of music was kept at a funky style. The type of music you would hear in a South Beach Cocktail Club. Smooth and Funky.
When the guests entered the dining room for the reception, again I kept the music very smooth and funky. Now the party gets really different!
After the intros of the bridal party, I introduced the Bride and Groom. So far, so good. The song started out slow.......but then......the crowd erupted! The couple breaks out into a twist! Then it switches to other fun songs, Footloose, The Conga, The Roxberry song (What is Love), Thriller, and much more! They then ended it with Bye Bye Bye by Insync. All in all, over 5 minutes of pure fun! People were screaming and shouting watching the Bride and Groom strut their stuff. We then broke into the Hora! Both Melissa and Jon were lifted in the chairs.
After that I sat everyone down for the traditional Motzie of the Challah (Breaking of Bread). Then the Bride's Father gave a very nice speech. He was happy to welcome Jon into the family. The maid of honor and best man got up and told some very funny stories...Ending with a champagne toast for both.
During dinner and in between courses I played a variety and mix of music. allowing the couples to dance and getting the other folks involved as well.
I played the Father/Daughter and Stepfather/Daughter dance back to back. "Cinderella" and Brown Eyed Girl" respectfully.
I also played Songs for the Mother/Son and Stepmother/Son Dances. They were Mama by Boys to Men and My Wish by Rascal Flats. During this song, I invited all af the guests up and then the party really heated up!
I kept the crowd on their feet for the rest of the night.. I played music from all genres and styles. And everybody had a great time.
PS..This afternoon, I got a call from Melissa thanking me again for a great party. She said that I was a vital part of the event and she couldn't thank me enough. I appreciate the opportunity to entertain...I really love it!
Thanks again Melissa and Jon. I hope you have a wonderful life together!!!
