Wedding and Reception at Deer Creek Golf Club

Aloha everyone!DJ Gregg here with another installment in the blog. This episode brings us to the warm tropical settings of the islands. That was the theme for Pam and Jim's wedding celebration. The Deer Creek Golf Club provided the backdrop this time, complete with its signature waterfall and warm staff. The ceremony was held outside by the waterfall. As the guests arrived, I was instructed to play steel drum music, to get the guests into the mood. It was a very casual occasion. Not a tuxedo or tie in sight! Only Tommy Bahama shirts and sun dresses here. I was even instructed to wear casual clothes. (a nice change from the formal wear). Jim stepped out with the officiant and then the bridal party made their entrance. The song requested was a steel drum version of "Can't help falling in love". Then Pam stepped on the patio. She looked beautiful! I played a steel drum version of "Brown Eyed Girl" per her request. It was a beautiful ceremony. Jim's children welcomed their dad's new bride by assisting in a sand ceremony. If you have never seen this, it is really cool. The family each have a vial of different colored sand. They then proceed to blend their vials in another vase all at once. this signifies the blending of two families to become one. I loved it!Once the ceremony ended, I played some tropical music as requested to keep the tropical theme going. Now we entered the main room for the reception. All of the tables were named after Hawaiian sayings or customs. (Surf's up, Hang loose, etc). I figured it would be appropriate to play some fun Hawaiian music as the guests came in. I then invited the bridal party in along with  the bride and groom to "Smile" by Uncle Kracker (per their request). Now on to the first dance. "Me and You" by Kenny Chesney was on tap. The next song was for The Bride and Groom to dance with their children. "My Wish" by Rascall Flats was chosen. I then invited all of the parents and their children to come up and dance. It was very touching. The toasts were read by Tracy and John, the Maid of Honor and Best man. John had a twist on the speech. He pulled out the boxes that the wedding rings came in and explained that the rings will be on their fingers forever and there is no need for the boxes anymore. Just at that time "SMASH" he crushed the boxes under his feet and the crowd erupted in applause. I kept the music lively all evening long. Even during dinner again per the bride's request. Lots of fun music spanning all of the decades. They fed the cake to each other, (or should I say, wore the cake on each other) It was really MESSY! Lots of laughs here!I then asked all of the kids under 12 (there were lots of them) to come up and pull on the pinata. WOW!! CANDY!!! It was super yummy. All in all, it was a very nice wedding. Everyone had a great time and all went smoothly. Again, a nice casual change from the ordinary.Congrats to Pam and Jim!Thanks for readingDJ Gregg
