Wedding and Reception at Pelican Grand Beach Resort / Ft. Lauderdale

Good Day Wedding Bloggers!

DJ Gregg here with this week's installment of the Wedding Blog.....

On Saturday, I had the pleasure of being the DJ entertainment for the awesome wedding of Farkhanda and David. They were married at the Pelican Grand Resort on Ft. Lauderdale Beach. This is a beautiful venue overlooking the Atlantic Ocean!

Although the ceremony was supposed to be held on the terrace, Mother Nature didn't get that memo.. So we had the ceremony in the Atlantic Ballroom.

It was still very elegant and the ocean view is unhindered. While the guests entered, I played some NEO Classical tunes by the Vitamin String Quartet. Then the bridal party entered. I played "Beethoven's 5 Secrets" by the Piano Guys' Then Farkhanda walked down the aisle to "A Thousand Years" by The Piano Guys.

The ceremony was performed by a family member and was very special. After the couple said "I DO" I played "Don't Stop Believing" by the Vitamin String Quartet.

The cocktail hour was upstairs on the 10th Floor. I played some "South Beach" style music to set a South Beach vibe..

The banquet room on the 11th Floor was getting ready to accept the guests. It was beautifully decorated with flowers and candles. The guests entered and I played some cool instrumental tunes...again to set a mood.

I then asked all of the guests to please help me in welcoming the new bride and groom. David and Farkhanda entered to "Feeling Good" by Michael Buble'. Then the first dance started. David took Farkhanda's hand and escorted her to the dance floor. "At Last" by Etta James was use and it was awesome! I then asked David to dance with his Mom. "My Wish" by Rascal Flatts was requested. Then Farkhanda escorted her father to dance. Since Farkhanda's heritage is Afghani, I was asked to play a traditional song. "Gole Galdoon" was used. It was an upbeat traditional song and it allowed me to invite all of the guests to dance along. It went over great..

I then invited everyone to take their seats. At that point I announced that dinner service was about to start.

During dinner, I played music from Otis Redding, Eric Clapton, Gypsy Kings and similar artists. Perfect conversation music.

As dinner concluded, I asked the Bridesmaids, Shereen, Tamana, and Mudja to say a few words. Then the best Man, Matt spoke. Shortly after that I invited Khal, Farkhanda's dad to say a few words. They were said with love and caring for both David and Farkhanda. Truly inspirational.

After the toasts, I announced that the traditional "Henna Ceremony" would start. During this time I played "The Afghan Wedding Song". It was really interesting to see this cultural ceremony and everyone was very intrigued.

As this concluded, I then asked David and Farkhanda to cut the wedding cake. I played "Cake By The Ocean" by DNCE (Very appropriate). Once they fed each other, I then invited all of the guests to the dance floor for dancing.

Now the fun begins! Since this was a mixed crowd I was able to play many different types of music genres. Including Afghani Music. This music has a great beat and everyone danced. Young and old! In fact, the dance floor was packed ALL EVENING.

It was really a great event. I wish David and Farkhanda a wonderful life together!
