Wedding and Reception at the Bahia Mar Resort

On 1/20/2012 Roy and Kim Balance celebrated their wedding with a blowout event at Bahia Mar in Ft. Lauderdale FL.  Prior to the wedding Roy, Kim and myself met to go over all of the details including the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception.  Their main concern was to make sure that everything goes as planned and that everyone has an unforgettable time.  Thanks to them and an up beat atmosphere we pulled it off.  The event started with an outdoor ceremony in the garden where the main songs played were by the Vitamin String Quartet.  After the ceremony all of the guests were treated to drinks and appetizers at the cocktail hour while Roy, Kim and family members posed for pictures.  The reception was held in the main ballroom where I lined up the bridal party for the grand entrance.  There were only 50 guests at this wedding but they sounded like 100.  Kim and Roy are one of the most fun and relaxed couples I have ever met.  As I introduced the bridal party the cheers were getting louder and louder until finally Roy and Kim entered as the new Mr. and Mrs. Roy Balance!!  The happy couple danced to Lucky by Jason Mraz and Colby Callait then the bridal party joined them half way through the song.  There were no parents dances so we went right into the toasts which were given by the best man and maid of honor.  After a 3 course dinner the dance floor opened up for some dancing.  Roy and Kim provided me with a short list of songs and left it up to me for the rest.  I played a mix of top 40, classic rock, disco, country and hip-hop which everyone seemed to enjoy.  We also performed to anniversary dance, the cake cutting and the garter/bouquet toss and back to the dance floor they went.  The wedding cake was beautiful and the groom's cake was a domino with 2 Cuban cigars on top.  Priceless!!  The highlight of the evening was dancing all of the group songs and doing the electric slide to Boot Scootin' Boogie.  The last song of the evening was Closing Time by Semisonic.  Thanks and congrats to Roy and Kim Balance you guys are a great couple.  Also to the staff at Bahia Mar, awesome job!! I'm looking forward to working there many more times this year.  Also to the camera crew from 4 Wedding on the TLC network.  They were there filming for the reality show which will be seen in March or April. DJ Ray
