Steve and Leah Smethurst were married on 4/29/2011 at the Bonnet House in the courtyard. The Bonnet House has a beautiful courtyard with plants, trees and fountains that makes for a great setting for a memorable ceremony. Steve's brother performed the ceremony which was filled with cheers and applause from the guests. From cocktail hour I realized that this would be different that any other wedding I have done. The reception area had cocktail tables, there was no formal sit down dinner, no toast and no cake cutting ceremony. The bride and groom basically wanted this to be a wedding party instead of a wedding reception. Well it worked! The guests danced from the cocktail hour to the end. The only brake was for formal introductions which were parents only and Steve and Leah. Steve and Leah requested that they combine the first dance with the parents dances. So as they began with a nice song called The Sea by Morecheeba, Leah's mom joined in, then Steve's mom, then Steve's dad. It worked out perfectly since Steve and Leah didn't want the spot light on them alone. Leah made a small list of song requests but left it up to me for the rest. I did take requests from the guests all night and they ranged from oldies to hip-hop to alternative rock. Everyone got a chance to get on the dance floor and celebrate throughout the evening. I want to thank Nicole from the Bonnet House for her hospitality and for her attentiveness to the bride and groom. She is always willing to do what it takes to put a smile on everyones face. Also 2 thumbs up to Ty & Tim at Ultimate Cusine catering for another first class presentation.
Thank you Steve and Leah for a memorable event. Also for the guests from South Africa and Italia.
