On Friday, September 30, 2011 I played for a destination wedding at The Coconut Cove Resort in Islamorada for Linda and David Gaviria and 50 friends and family members. We the started the evening off with traditional ceremony music on the beach, Ode to Joy/Canon in D for the bridesmaids and Linda. For the recessional it was Over The Rainbow by Israel K. Cocktail reception was all tropical Steel Drum music. After dinner and a few toasts I invited everyone to the beach for the first dance (This Year's Love by David Gray). As soon as I started the song, a fireworks display lit up the bay as Linda & David danced while all the guests were in AHHH! It was a wonderful surprise that no one knew about. This is also a tradition at the Coconut Cove Resort. Once everyone caught their breath I invited Linda and her father Jorge, to the dance floor for the father/daughter dance. They chose "What A Wonderful World" by Louie Armstrong. Then it was David and his mother Lucelly swaying to "Stand By Me" by Ben E. King. I immediately started the dancing with a salsa/merengue set and it went over well since most of my guests were Spanish. I also mixed in some of Linda's favorites like Maroon 5, Train, Shakira, Timbaland, and UB 40. Later the cake was cut to "I Got You Babe" and the bouquet was tossed to "Single Ladies". I ended the evening with "I've Had The Time Of My Life" and wished the couple from the Washington D.C. area all the best. Linda & David are going on a cruise on the Majesty Of The Seas/Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. Thanx again for making me a part of your special day, I enjoyed playing for everyone....DJ/MC Eddie B!
