On Saturday January 12th, 2013, at the Doubetree Grand Hotel on Biscayne Bay is where Virtual DJ Marc Evans celebrated with Robbie and Laura McDonald. Outside on the terrace over looking the bay, in front of 75 of their very close friends and relatives they were married. As I played songs from the Vitamin String Quartet for the prelude and then Wonderful Tonight by the Quartet for the bridal party and Canon in D for the bride. Once they were pronounced husband and wife, I cued up and played Good Life by One Republic. During the cocktail hour I played various tunes requested by the bride. Songs and artists such as, Fatboy Slim, Sam Cooke, Neil Young, Frank Sinatra, The Isley Brothers, Steve Ray Vaughn, Coldplay and many more that kept cocktail hour classy but yet upbeat. Once cocktail hour was over, the guests were invited to the main ballroom which glowed with LED wireless lavender uplighting provided by Eddie B and Company, along with LED dance floor lights. I lined up the bridal party and prepared for the grand entrance. The parents and the bridal party danced into the room to Feel So Close by Calvin Harris, followed by Laura and Robbie to the song Crazy In Love by Beyonce. The first dance was La Vie en Rose by Louis Armstrong. After the first dance I invited the mother of the groom to join her son on the dance floor as they danced to In My Life by Allison Crowe. I introduced the best man and maid of honor to do the champagne toast to the bride and groom. Salad and Intermezzo were served prior to dinner, and Laura asked that I play a special request and dedicate it to her dad. Father and Daughter by Paul Simon as I invited all fathers and daughters to make their way to the dance floor. During dinner, more requests were played such as Etta James, Nat King Cole, Adele, Ray Charles. After dinner the guests of bride and groom danced to the various artists such as Pitbull, Beyonce, Black Eyed Peas to name a few. Dance music from all the eras is what kept the guests festive all night long. A few line dances along with the Top 40 hits kept the party going. Sing alongs to Bohemian Rhapsody and American Pie had the men singing to the music. I ended the evening with Into The Mystic by Van Morrison as all the friends of the bride and groom joined them one last time on the dance floor. I received a text from the bride the following day thanking me. Off on their honeymoon and for me the Virtual DJ Marc Evans, I will prepare for another wedding!
