"It's like rai-aaaain, on your wedding day," but we had a blast anyway!
On a rare rainy February day at the Key Largo Lighthouse I had the wonderful pleasure of DJing James and Samantha's Wedding on Saturday, February 4, 2023. Guests came from South Carolina to be a part of wedding and they were a wonderful group. The rain held off for the ceremony and it was beautiful. The bridal party walked down the beach to the Vitamin String Quartet version of Sam Smith's Stay With Me. Then Samantha walked down the path escorted by her father to the Vitamin String Quartet version of Home by Edward Sharp and Magnetic Zeros. After a lovely ceremony the pastor pronounced Sam and James husband and wife! The bridal party walked back up to Somewhere Over the Rainbow by Iz Kamakawiwo'ole.
I set up under the large tent due to weather but the rain held off for cocktail hour. I set up the speakers so everyone could hear and played songs like "Kokomo" by Beach Boys, "I Will Wait" by Mumford and Sons, Train - Drive By and Walker Hayes - Fancy Like. After Cocktail Hour everyone gathered under the tent and I introduced the bridal party to Good Feeling by Flo-Rida. After introductions Best Man and brother of the groom Josh gave one of the most touching toasts I have heard. He called his brother the most reliable man he knows and brought tears to his eyes. Maid of Honor Jessica also gave a wonderful toast. After prayer, dinner began and I played a mix of wedding dinner music like "My Wish" by Rascal Flatts, "Thinking Out Loud" by Ed Sheeran, and "Only Wanna Be With You" by Hootie and the Blowfish by request which I was super happy to hear again. I was also sure to play "Ironic" by Alanis Morisette as it was quite appropriate for the day! After dinner the bride and groom cut the cake to Sugar Sugar by the Archies followed by Pour Some Sugar on Me by Def Leppard. James and Sam had their first dance to the Weezer cover of "Happy Together". Then Sam danced with her father to One Call Away by Charlie Puth, a FANTASTIC Father Daughter song, and James danced with his mom to "Sweet Baby James" by James Taylor.
This group was ready to dance! Some of the songs I played were Usher - Yeah, White Houses by Vanessa Carlton, Sweet Child o Mine by Guns and Roses, High Hopes by Panic at the Disco, Toxic by Britney Spears and Party Rock Anthem by LMFAO. I played the Anniversary Game where I asked all the married couples to come to the dance floor while I played slow songs. Then I called out 5 years, 10 years and if the couple had been married less than that they say down. The winners were the Bride's Grandparents Valerie and Curt who were celebrating their 57th Anniversary that very same day! I continued playing into the night with songs like Shut Up and Dance by Walk the Moon, Mr Brightside by The Killers, I Believe in a Thing Called Love bty the Darkness, Shake it Off by Taylor Swift and Wagon Wheel by Darius Rucker. The night ended with ACDC - You Shook Me All Night Long. The night was so fun I even stayed an extra hour. It was so much fun to DJ Sam and James' Wedding and I wish the happy couple the very best!
