On Saturday April 20th, 2011, I had the great pleasure of playing for Jessica and Derick Saayman and 100 guests at the L.H.P.Y.C. The ceremony was held outside on the terrace over looking the beautiful multi million dollar yachts. After playing 5 special requests for the prelude music, the bridesmaids walked to "Bittersweet Symphony" by the Vitamin D String Quartet. Jessica walked to "Canon in D" by the O'Neil Brothers. For their sand ceremony I played "Marry Me" by Train and for the recessional it was a classic by Frankie Valli, "Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You"! The cocktail reception was also held outside and Tropical Steel Drum music was their choice. Then the party moved inside and the fun started with and introduction of the bridal party to "I Got A Feeling (Instr.) and then "Sandstorm" by Darude for the newlyweds. Jessica and Derick danced their first dance to "Amazed" by Lonestar and Jessica danced with her father to "My Little Girl" by Tim McGraw, and Derick and his mother danced to "Because You Loved Me" by Celine Dion. After a few toasts and a 5 minute speech/story by Jessica's father Marcelo, dinner was served and then the dancing began. Since Derick and his family are from South Africa, I played "Waka Waka" (Time for Africa), by Shakira and all of his family and relatives started the party because they new the words to this song. I had a real hip, modern music, group of partygoers so 80% of the music format was from today. I played "Love Story" by Taylor Swift for the cake cutting and "It's Raining Men" for the bouquet toss, and "Low" for the garter removal. Towards the end, Derick came up on stage and took my microphone and gave a great thank you speech to all of his guests, and acknowledged the great job I was doing, by keeping the party flowing from start to finish. I want to thank Jessica, Derick and both of the immediate families for making me feel welcome and a big part of their special day.......DJ/MC Eddie B!
