Wedding and Reception at the Maxwell Room

DJ Gregg here and I have a great story to tell you! On Saturday, I had the pleasure of hosting an event for Mike and Kati. The wedding ceremony and reception was held at the historic Maxwell Room in Ft. Lauderdale. It is a gem of a facility and is situated along the New River.

The ceremony was to be performed along the sea wall. As the guests arrived, I played some Neo-classics from the Vitamin String Quartet and the 2Cellos. The ceremony began with the Bridal Party walking down the aisle. I was asked to play "Humble and Kind" by Tim McGraw. Then Kati walked down to "Today" by Brad Paisley. The ceremony was unique. They gave each other special vows and then were pronounced husband and wife! I played "It all Started With A Beer" by Frankie Ballon for the exit song.

Walking across the street brings back into the Maxwell room. The room was decorated "Country Style" with special vases made out of wine bottles and hanging candles inside mason jars. The bride and groom are BIG country fans and I was asked to keep that feel throughout the evening.

During the cocktail Hour I played an eclectic mix of country, light rock and some standards. It set a nice tone for the rest of the evening.

The grand entrance of the bride and groom was very simple, just Mike and Kati. They then went into their first dance "Honey Bee" by Blake Shelton. I then invited Kati to dance with her dad. "My wish" by Rascal Flatts was chosen. After that I instructed Mike to dance with his mom. They picked "Simple Man" by Lynyrd Skynyrd.

The toasts by the maid of honor and best man were done next. Very sentimental and to the point.

Dinner service is starting and I keep the soundtrack fairly light. Again, playing an eclectic mix for an eclectic crowd. We then proceeded to do the cake cutting service. I played "Honey Bee" again per their request

After dinner, I was asked to start the dancing with "Sweet Home Alabama" and the party never stopped from that point on.

As stated, it was a very diverse crowd of all makes and models and the music styles varied too. A very refreshing evening indeed! DJ/MC Gregg Pellito
