Good Day Bloggers DJ Gregg here with this weeks installment of the wedding blog.....
On Saturday, August 22nd, 2015 I had the distinct pleasure of being the DJ and MC for the wedding of Susie and Brandon.
The venue was the elegant Mayfair in Coconut Grove.
If you have never been there, you are missing out. It is very unique!
As the guests game into the atrium for the ceremony, I was instructed to play some Neo-Classical tunes by the Vitamin String Quartet.
The wedding party entered to Over the Rainbow by Israel K. Then Susan walked down the aisle to "I will follow you" by Deathcab for Cutie.
The ceremony was performed by a Nautical Captain and they even "tied the knot" at the end.....literally.
The recessional was "You make my dreams come true" by Hall and Oates.
During the cocktail hour the guests were greeted with steel drums echoing in the wings provided by Eddie B. & Company!
After that they opened the room for the main event....This is when I took over!
I invited them in with some smooth South Beach sounds playing in the background. A great way to set the tone. The room was bathed in Royal Blue LED up lights provided by Eddie B & Company.
Once everyone was settled in, I proceeded to do the grand entrance of the bridal party and....of course... the bride and groom!
They danced the first dance to "Wagon Wheel" by Darius Rucker and then I invited all of the guests to come up and dance to "Shotgun Rider". It went over great, as this crowd was a country fairing folk! But not all night.....Thank goodness!
The toasts were done during dinner and started with the Bride's dad welcoming everyone.
Then Maria and Robert, the maid of honor and best man had a chance to reflect on their friendship with the bride and groom. It was a really nice touch.
During dinner, I kept it pretty light, playing standards from Sinatra to Buble'. All requested by the bride and groom, of course... I then invited everyone to enjoy the photo booth, also provided by Eddie B. & Company.
After dinner I picked up the heat with some top 40 tunes and even a little Latin thrown in for good measure.
I then invited Susie and her dad to the dance floor for their dance. "My Little Girl" by Tim McGraw was on tap.
After that we picked it up again. I played music for all generations and tastes. It was a well rounded crowd. From new music to classics and everything in between.
The cake cutting was fun.. They smashed cake in each other's faces! Loved it!
The garter and bouquet toss was exceptional as well. It looked like it was a bit of a set up for 2 of the guests to meet, and it worked. I saw them dancing together the rest of the night.
In the end, I want to say that this was a really fun party and a great crowd! They danced all night!! DJ/MC Gregg Pellito
