Good Day Bloggers!
DJ Gregg here with this weeks installment of the wedding blog.
Today's episode brings us to the Ocean Point Doubletree by Hilton in Sunny Isles for the wedding and reception of Elizabeth and Matthew.
As the guests arrived for the ceremony, I was already set up and playing the prelude music. Elizabeth and Matthew had requested some Neo-classical hits from the 2Cellos and Piano Guys.
The minister walked down and then Matthew. Then the ceremony began. first, the parents, and then the flower girls. I played "A Thousand Years" Piano version. It was perfect. Then Elizabeth came down. She looked gorgeous! I played "Sleeping At Last" by Turning Page.
The ceremony was a great mix of traditional items, like the exchange of vows. As well as some great readings of love from Native American culture and even Maya Angeleu. Matthew and Elizabeth had also written vows to each other, again signifying the closeness of this wonderful couple and followed up with the traditional kiss! Since Matthew's side of the family is Jewish, the traditional breaking of the glass sealed the deal! I played "Creo en ti" by Reik for the exit song.
After the ceremony, I played music for the cocktail hour. I was asked to keep it light and happy. Elizabeth and Matthew picked out some South Beach Lounge sounds.
After the cocktail hour, I invited everyone into the main room.
It was aglow with beautiful CYAN BLUE up lights provided by Eddie B & Company. I played some funky sounds to set the tone and to let everyone know that we were ready for a party! Now the moment has arrived. Introducing Elizabeth and Matthew was wonderful, especially because they walked in to "Can't Stop this Feeling" by Justin Timberlake. I then asked Elizabeth and Matthew to dance their first dance. "All Of Me" by John Legend was requested. After the thunderous applause, I played "Hermano" by Marc Anthony for Elizabeth and her brother to dance to. I then proceeded to invite Matthew and his mom to dance their special song. "In My Life" by Bette Midler was requested. And to top off the special dances, Elizabeth and Matthew danced with their respective In-Laws. "Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong was chosen. I then proceeded to invite everyone to their seats for dinner. Shortly afterwards, I invited some special people to do the toasts. There were a total of 6 speeches! I kept the music light throughout. Once dinner was finished, I got the party started. The majority of the guests were from Miami and The Dominican Republic, so I was able to play a lot of Latin for Elizabeth's side of the family and top 40 and classics for Matthew's side. This crowd was awesome! They just kept dancing and dancing! In fact, the dance floor was packed all night! I love to see a crowd that is there because they really want to be. I then invited Elizabeth and Matthew out to the dance floor for the traditional "Hora". I was able to get both of them up in the chairs and it was a lot of fun! I then proceeded to get back into the party groove. Around 11:30 I asked Elizabeth and Matthew to cut the cake. They served each other quite nicely. Shortly after that, I did the traditional "HORA LOCA" starting off with "Viene a Pedir Mi Mano" by Juan Luis Guerra. WOW! What a way to get this traditional event going... They kept going and going. I then did the garter and bouquet toss AND THEN I invited everyone to eat the traditional "SANCOCHO" soup. It looked great! We then got back to dancing, Towards the end of the party, I invited everyone out on to the patio for the sparkler send off!
As I mentioned earlier, this was a fun loving crowd and you can really see that they wanted to be there.
I wish Elizabeth and Matthew a wonderful life together!
