Good Day Blogger!
DJ Gregg here with this weeks installment of the Wedding blog.
On Saturday December 8, 2018 I had the pleasure of hosting the ceremony and reception of Fran and Angie. They were married at the Pelican Grand Beach Resort in Ft. Lauderdale.
I love this place! It is located right on the sand at the edge of the Atlantic Ocean. The views are endless, plus the fact that the ceremony and Cocktail hour were on the 11th floor makes it that much more breathtaking!
As the guests arrived, I was asked to keep it very traditional, playing prelude instrumental music.
The wedding party entered with "Somewhere Over The Rainbow by Israel K. Then the brides walked in to "Canon in D minor" by Pachabel. It was classic. The ceremony was very traditional, including the breaking of glass and the exchanging of rings. After the " I Do's", they exited to "Signed, Sealed, Delivered" by Stevie Wonder
The cocktail hour was also held in the same room. I was asked to play some standards and Rat Pack tunes.
We then went downstairs to the first floor for the reception. The room was decorated beautifully. Overlooking the ocean and with a classic flair. The LED up lights were highlighted in Lavender and provided by Eddie B & Company.
Once I lined up the bridal party, I introduced them to "Walking On Sunshine" by Katrina and The Waves. Then I asked Angie and Fran to enter. I played "Marry You" by Bruno Mars. The place erupted in applause! They immediately went into their first dance.... "Remedy" by Adele. Then Fran danced with her dad to "My Little Girl" by Tim McGraw. During that I invited all of the couples to dance. Once that song ended, I asked all of the guests to make a big circle and join in the celebration HORA! It was wonderful to see both brides being lifted in the chairs. Once that ended, I asked everyone to sit down and we did our special toasts and dedications. Fran's dad Mark was very happy to get up and say a few words. they were very heartfelt.
Soon after that, I asked Rabbi Howard to say the traditional Motzie blessing of the bread and he blessed the meal as well.
Now dinner is served. I kept it light, playing standards and light vocals.
After dinner is when we turned up the heat. I played all types of music and genres, however the classics went over best!
The cake cutting occurred without a hitch, since they were very civil to each other while feeding. I used "How Sweet It Is" by James Taylor.
After that we got back into the party and danced the rest of the evening!
