Good Day Blogger!
DJ Gregg here with this weeks installment of the Wedding blog.
On Saturday I had the pleasure of hosting the ceremony and reception of Amy and John. They were married at the Pelican Grand Beach Resort in Ft. Lauderdale.
I love this place! It is located right on the sand at the edge of the Atlantic Ocean. The views are endless, plus the fact that the ceremony and reception are on the 11th and 12th floors makes it that much more breathtaking!
As the guests arrived, I was asked to keep it very traditional, playing prelude music from Beethoven.
The bridal party entered with "Canon in D minor" by Pachobel and then Amy walked sown the aisle to "Ave Maria". It was classic. The ceremony was very traditional, including a sand ceremony and the exchanging of rings. After the " I Do's", they exited to "Beyond The Sea" by Bobby Darin. (Very Smooth....)
The cocktail hour was also held on the patio. I was asked to play some standards and Rat Pack tunes.
We then went downstairs to the 11th floor for the reception. The room was decorated beautifully. Overlooking the ocean and with a nautical flair. The Uplights were bathed in Teal and provided by Eddie B and Company.
Once I lined up the bridal party, I introduced them to "Just Cant Get Enough" by Depeche Mode. Then I asked Amy and John to enter. I played "Love and Marriage" by Sinatra. The place erupted in applause! They immediately went into their first dance.... "Love Song" by 311. Then Amy danced with her dad to "Hand prints on the Wall" by Kenny Rogers. After that I invited John and his mom to dance. They chose "What a wonderful world" by Louis Armstrong. Soon after that I asked them to sit down and we did our special toasts and dedications. Rocky and Ricky, the best man and maid of honor were very happy to get up and say a few words. they were very heartfelt.
Now dinner is served. I kept it light, playing standards and light vocals.
Amy and John are old souls and requested that NO TOP 40 to be played. I was instructed to play 70's and 80's music and that is exactly what I did. It was great to see young people dancing to Disco and even Frankie Goes to Hollywood!..
The cake cutting occurred without a hitch, since they were very civil to each other while feeding.
The garter and bouquet toss was very elegant and not over the top.
After that we got back into the party!
At 10:30, I invited everyone up top to the patio again for the sparkler sendoff.
A great way to end a great party!
