On Saturday April 20th, 2013 I had the pleasure of playing for Amy and Kevin Kelly and 100 friends and family members at the River Palm Cottages in Jensen Beach. Under threatening skies the ceremony took place on the banks of the Indian River. The parents and groomsmen walked to "Bless This Broken Road", bridesmaids walked to "The River Flows In You", and Amy walked to "From This Moment"....all instrumental versions. After they sealed their vows with a kiss I played "Over The Rainbow" and everyone moved to cocktail hour. Under a huge Tiki Hut a programed a list of songs provided to me by Amy & Kevin. It was a mix of toe tapping Country hits and Retro Top 40 tunes. Then the party began with an introduction of the bridal party (28 people), to "Footloose" by Blake Shelton, and for the newlyweds I played "She's A Lady" by Tom Jones. I knew then I had a festive group of people that came to party! Amy and Kevin chose "Give Into Me" by Garrett Hedlund & Leighton Meester for their first dance. Then Amy danced with her father Donald to "I Loved Her First" and Kevin danced with his mother Linda to "You've Got A Friend". Next up was a buffet dinner and then toasts from Amy's 3 sisters (one of which I did her wedding 20 years ago), and the best man Mr. Billy Kelly. Their were a lot of laughs as everyone reflected back on good times and memories. From there on in it was non stop dancing for two and half hours. I played a mix of Top 40 club hits, Classic Rock, some retro 80's new wave, and a few line dances. Later the cake was cut to "Are You Gonna Kiss Me Or Not", and for the garter bouquet it was "Hot Legs" for the garter removal and "Who Let The Dogs Out" for the garter toss. Amy tossed her bouquet to "Girls, Girls, Girls" and for the reversal it was "Baby Got Back". The final two songs of the evening were "Wonderful Tonight" by Eric Clapton and then "It's A Great Day To be Alive" by Travis Tritt. Everyone was circled up on the dance floor singing this song out loud! This truly was a GREAT DAY! Thank you Amy & Kevin for making me a part of your day....it was special! DJ/MC Eddie B!
