Wedding and Reception at the Stranahan House

Good Day Bloggers!

DJ Gregg here with this weeks installment of the wedding blog. On Saturday, January 19th, I had the pleasure of being the DJ and MC for Christopher and Jaci. They were married at the historic Stranahan House Museum. This little gem  is nestled on the New River in Ft. Lauderdale, and is one of the oldest structures in the city.

As the guests made their way to the courtyard on the river, I was asked to play some Neo classical tunes by the Vitamin String Quartet and the 2Cellos. The bridal party walked down the aisle to "Gravity" instrumental. Soon after, the guests stood up as Jaci made her way down. She looked radiant as the sun set on the New River. Her special song was " Free Fallin' Instrumental". The ceremony was performed by Christopher's mom, who is a judge. She came prepared with robe and all! As they exchanged vows, I could see the love that all of the family and friends had for this couple. It was apparent. The ceremony was sealed with a kiss and "Can't Help Falling In Love" was requested for the exit of the newlyweds.

Cocktail hour commenced and the steel drummer was provided by Eddie B & Company. The drinks were flowing all evening long and cocktail hour set a nice tone.

After this I invited all of the guests into the tent. It was decorated beautifully, but the main focal point was the LED dance floor provided by Eddie B & Company. It was spectacular.

I lined up the bridal party for introductions and played "Bring Em Out" by T.I. Then Christopher and Jaci entered with "Better Together" by Jack Johnson. It was a festive moment. I then asked Christopher and Jaci to dance their first dance. "At Last' was chosen. Once that ended, I invited Jaci to dance with her Dad. They chose "Fathers and Daughters Never Say Goodbye" by Michael Bolton. Then Christopher danced with his mom. They requested "Fire & Rain" by James Taylor. During this song, I invited all of the guests to dance along with them. The floor was jammed with well wishers giving their love to Jaci and Christopher.

Soon after, I invited the guests to sit down for the dinner service. An incredible spread was offered to all of the guests! During this time, I kept it pretty light, playing standards and some light vocal tunes. As dinner was finishing up, I asked Jori and Nick to say a few words. Then Jaci's Dad and Christophers' Dad gave a speech. A lot of warmth was felt in the words of these loving parents. At this point, I made the announcement about the opening of the "Mirror Me" photo booth provided by Eddie B and Company. Everyone flocked over to put on funny hats and funny faces!

Now  I opened the dance floor. This was a young crowd and they were ready to party! I played all different genres of music, but the top styles were old school Hip Hop, classic Rock and Latin!

The bouquet was thrown using " Girls wanna Have Fun" by Cyndi Lauper. Then the dance floor was reopened and we danced the rest of the night!

A great time was had by all!!!   DJ/MC Gregg Pellito
