Good Day Bloggers!
DJ Gregg here with this weeks installment of the wedding blog. On Saturday, April 13th, I had the pleasure of being the DJ and MC for Lauren and Josh. They were married at the historic Stranahan House and Museum. This little gem is nestled on the New River in Ft. Lauderdale, and is one of the oldest structures in the city.
As the guests made their way to the courtyard on the river, I was asked to play some Neo classical tunes by the Vitamin String Quartet and the 2Cellos. The bridal party walked down the aisle to "Ode To joy" by Beethoven. Soon after, the guests stood up as Lauren made her way down. She looked radiant as the sun set on the New River. Her special song was " Canon in D Minor".As they exchanged vows that were written to each other, I could see the love that all of the family and friends had for this couple. It was apparent. The ceremony was sealed with a kiss and "Dela" by Johnny Clegg was requested for the exit of the newlyweds.
Cocktail hour commenced by the east patio. The drinks were flowing all evening long and the cocktail hour set a nice tone.
After this I invited all of the guests into the tent. Everyone was ready to get this party started!.
I lined up the bridal party for introductions and played "Come And Get Your love" by Redbone. Then Josh and Lauren entered with "This Will Be" by Natalie Cole. It was a festive moment. I then asked Dennis, the father of Lauren to come up and say a few words. He welcomed everyone to the event and was very proud of his daughter and new son in law. The Dan, Josh's dad spoke. He echoed the sentiment of Dennis, stating how proud he was of the new couple. Next, I invited josh's grandfather Dan to say the blessing before the meal.
Now dinner service has started. I planned to keep it light, playing some standards and light tunes. As dinner was coming to a close, I asked Kristeena and Daniel, the maid of honor and best man, to get up and say a few words. They were very heartfelt and touching. I then asked Lauren and Josh to dance their first dance. "You and I' by Michael Buble' was chosen. Once that ended, I invited Lauren to dance with her Dad. They chose "My Little Girl" by Tim McGraw. Towards the end of the song, I invited all of the guests to dance along with them. The floor was jammed with well wishers giving their love to Lauren and Josh. This song allowed me to segue into the Conga Line as requested by Lauren! And the party is now started!!!
This was a fun crowd and they were ready to party! I played all different genres of music, but the top styles were old school, top 40 and Latin!
The bouquet was thrown using " Wannabe" by Spice Girls The garter toss went over great too! I played "Let's get it on" by Marvin Gaye. Then the dance floor was reopened and we danced the rest of the night!
A great time was had by all!!!
