Duane and Carroll Lockett's Wedding at The Venue in Ft. Lauderdale
Duane and Carroll Lockett’s wedding was held at The Venue in Ft. Lauderdale on July 21st. Many of their family members flew in from different parts of the country to watch the two get married at a beautiful altar in a spacious white room decorated with beautiful pink and white roses for the occasion. I started things off with a mix of R&B hits while guests began to arrive. The guests were seated shortly before the bridal party processional as the vocalist sang Here and Now by Luther Vandross as we awaited the guest of honor. The bride made her grand entrance down a flight of floating stairs escorted by her son while the vocalist sang I Found Love by Bebe and Cece Winans. Once announced husband and wife the newlyweds celebrated to Signed Sealed Delivered by Stevie Wonder as they walked back down the aisle together as the new Mr. and Mrs. Lockett and everyone was invited to the lounge next door for the cocktail hour. I switched the music over to some more R&B and Easy Listening selections while the guests began to socialize for the cocktail hour. After some pictures it was time to introduce the bridal party and newlyweds. The room was well lit with white pin spots and intelligent lighting creating a nice ambiance for a bride and groom introduction. I pumped up the crowd as I announced the new Mr. and Mrs. Lockett as they walked in to It Takes Two by Rob Base and DJ EZ Rock. The cheering continued as I invited them to the middle of the floor for their first dance. Duane and Carroll embraced each other as I played At Last by Etta James. After the first dance I invited everyone back to their seats for their first dinner course. Champagne glasses were distributed among the guests as the Best Man and Matron of Honor gave nice heartfelt speeches. Shortly after dinner we did a different twist on the bouquet toss as keys were handed out to the single women to unlock a chest and they took turns trying their keys to unlock the bouquet while I played Single Ladies by Beyonce. Once the toasts were done and the guests finished their meals, I invited everyone up to the dance floor while I played some 80s R&B hits and Hip Hop favorites. The rest of the night was a dance party! I played a mix of everything and the guests were invited to request songs to keep the party going. I closed everything out to The Time of My Life by Black Eyed Peas as we all sang along before ending the night. Congratulations to Carroll and Duane Lockett. I had a blast with you and your awesome family. - DJ ELOW
