Wedding and Reception at the Westin Hotel / Ft. Lauderdale

Alex and Jenn Serna celebrated their wedding on 9/8/2012 at the Westin Hotel in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.  The ceremony took place outside on the 4th floor at the Sky Terrace where 80 friends and family members witnessed Alex and Jenn pledge their love to each other.  It was a perfect sunny late afternoon as the ceremony was followed by a cocktail hour at the same location.  All of the guests were treated to drinks and appetizers as I played a mix of Mo-town tunes (Alex's favorites).  After the cocktail hour everyone was directed to the ballroom on the 2nd floor for a big reception.  Everyone was very excited as I lined up the 21 member bridal party for the grand entrance.  Jenn decided on Party Rock Anthem by LMFAO for the bridal party entrance and Everything Tonight by Pitbull and NeYo for her and Alex's entrance.  The place was rockin' as Alex and Jenn entered the room for the first time as husband and wife.  The first dance they chose was Just My Imagination by The Temptations.  Soon after Jenn danced with her dad Andreas to Have I Told You Lately by Rod Stewart then Alex danced with his mom Annette to The Sunny Side Of The Street by Tony Bennett and Willie Nelson.  The maid of honor (Melanie) and the 2 best men (Josh and Richie) gave three very heart-felt toasts and shared a few tears with Alex and Jenn.  The 1st of 3 courses were being served and the party was underway.  Jenn and Alex did not provide a play list for me because they trust my judgment and they also asked me to take requests from the guests.  Alex did hint to me that he loves Mo-town and he just wanted everyone to have a great time.  That was an easy task for me since most of the guests were at the ice sculpture taking cold shots of Tequila.  That was a first!!  After the main course the dance floor really opened up.  I played a mix of top 40, 80's, 70's, more mo-town and some old school hip-hop.  The guests were loving the music so much I hardly got any requests.  Before the cake cutting and the garter/bouquet toss I played 2 love songs for the anniversary dance which was won by Alex's grandparents (married 72 years) WOW!!!  There was more dancing and drinking until the end and Jenn requested Closing Time by Semisonic as the last dance.  What a great wedding to be a part of!!  Congrats to Jenn and Alex Serna for choosing me as their DJ for their special day.  Special thanks to all of the friends and family members who packed the dance floor all night.  This was my first wedding at the Westin Hotel in Ft. Lauderdale and I know it won't be my last.  The staff at the Westin take a lot of pride in their work and it showed!! DJ Ray
