On Friday, December 17th, 2010 I played for Monai & Ryan Johnston at the Newport Beach Resort. The evening started off with a ceremony on the beach. I played an instrumental version of "I Do Cherish You" for the bridesmaids to walk to, and for Monai it was "Storybook Love" from the Princess Bride. After they exchanged vows the guests were invited inside to the "305 Kitchen" a lounge/nightclub inside the hotel, for a cocktail reception. Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennet, & Michael Buble' was their choice of music while the bridal party took sunset pictures on the beach with photographer Larry Capdeville of Imaginations Photography. Then the party moved to the Tiffany Ballroom for the reception. I introduced Monai & Ryan to "Love Story" by Taylor Swift, as 110 guests applauded and cheered as they made their way to the dance floor. They surpriseed their guests by doing the cake cutting ceremony first before their first dance which was sung live by one of Monais' bridesmaids, Michelle Montjoy. She sang Bryan Adams "Heaven", and did a first class presentation. Monai then danced with her father Todd, to "It Won't Be Like This For Long" by Darius Rucker, and Ryan danced with his mother Carol, to "The Long and Winding Road" by The Beatles. After a sit down dinner I imediately filled the dance floor with a classic from Barry White, "Can't Get Enough of Your Love" and from there on I played everything from todays club hits, to classics from the 60's. The guests were a very festive group that loved to dance. We also provided uplighting (Hot Pink) and a name gobo with the initials RJM shining on the wall just above Monai & Ryans sweetheart table. I also want to thank Tammy & Holly and their entire staff for making it an enjoyable evening and a pleaseure to work with...Thanks again DJ/MC Eddie B!
