Wedding & Reception Aboard the Sun Dream Yacht
On January 20, 2023, National DJ Day, I had the pleasure of DJing Pete and Marissa Wiegel's Wedding on board the Sun Dream. Pete and Marissa are from South Carolina and taking a nice vacation to South Florida from the cooler weather. Pete is 6'5" so the first thing I told him is to watch his head as he was going through the doors! As the guests boarded I set the mood with a blend of tropical, reggae and love songs like Underneath It All by Gwen Stefani, Three Little Birds by Bob Marley and Daniel Jang's violin covers as we got closer to the ceremony. The bridal party and the lovely couple entered to the violin and cello version of Ed Sheeran's Perfect. After they were pronounced husband and wife they exited to All of Me by John Legend and cocktail hour began. Pete and Marissa gave me a great list of songs like Avicii - Waiting for Love, Elton John - Your Song, and 38 Special - Caught Up In You. When I get some guidance from the bride and groom it is easier for me to fill in the gaps and give them exactly what they are looking for with the music. When it was time for introductions I had the guests for a circle around the dance floor and the bridal party entered to David Guetta/BeBe Rehxa - I'm Good. Pete and Marissa had their first dance to the Ed Sheeran and Beyonce duet version of Perfect, then Pete danced with his mom to Tom Petty - Learning to Fly. During dinner I played soft music and then Pete and Marissa cut the cake to Sugar by Maroon 5. This group was a blast and loved to dance to house music. One of the guests danced just like the people in the video for Avicii - Levels. I mixed SHouse - Love Tonight, Martin Solveig - Ready to Go (Hardwell Mix), and Calvin Harris - I Need Your Love. The crowd loved Weeknd - Blinding Lights. I slowed it down with Aerosmith - Don't Want to Miss a Thing and Elton John - Your Song and also some Queen. There was a guy at the wedding with a great Freddy Mercury moustache! The night ended with Journey - Don't Stop Believing and Eric Clapton - Wonderful Tonight. Pete and Marissa were very generous and it was wonderful to DJ their wedding on National DJ Day 2023!
