Wedding Reception at The Addison / Boca Raton

DJ Gregg here with this weeks installment of THE WEDDING BLOG. On Saturday I had the pleasure of being the DJ for Henrique and Julianne as they celebrated their wedding day! It was held at the beautiful Addison in Boca Raton. Old Florida style at its finest.
The cocktail hour featured the guitar styles of Islay (provided by Eddie B & Company). He did a great job and set a really nice mood.
In the hall, I was preparing for the guests to arrive. I was able to bathe the room with Amber LED Up lights. it looked great! The room was warm and inviting.
We opened up on schedule and it sounded great. I played some Brazilian Jazz to set a nice tone. Henrique's family is from Brazil and many traveled to be at the event, so I thought it would be a nice way to pay homage to Henrique's heritage.
As the guests settled in, I invited the parents of Julianne and Henrique to make a grand entrance. I then asked Henrique and Julianne to enter. It was to great fanfare! I then asked them to stay on the dance floor to enjoy their first dance. They Chose "You're Nobody Till Somebody Loves You" By Dean Martin. During the song, I invited all of the guests to dance with them. The more couples on the dance floor, the more years of good luck and happiness for Henrique and Julianne. The floor was packed, so this was a great omen!
I then asked everyone to find their seats. Shortly after that, I invited Glenn, Julianne's dad to welcome everyone and say a few words. He proceeded to discuss his love and joy for his daughter and new son in law and even recited some poetry! (Love Poems, of course).
I then asked, Kaitlin, the bride's sister to say a few words. She talked about how great it was to grow up with such a caring and loving sibling...
I also asked Bryan to say a blessing before the meal. Then dinner service began. During this time, I kept the mood light and refreshing. Playing some tunes from days gone by to current gems.
After Salads were finished, I asked Julianne to dance with her Dad. They chose "I wish you love" by Dean Martin. I then invited Henrique to dance with his mom. Their special song was " "Emocoes" by Roberto Carlos. A traditional Brazilian ballad. I proceeded to invite all of the guests up to dance along. We played some fun music after that and then I asked everyone to find their seats for the entree.
Again, I kept it light. The cake cutting proceeded shortly after dinner was finished. I played "How Sweet It Is" by James Taylor. I then invited the single ladies to the dance floor to catch the bouquet. This was very special, as Julianne decided to throw it from the 2nd floor balcony on to the dance floor! It went over great! Then, a really special treat.....Glenn, Julianne's dad wanted to give away his special baseball cap that he was wearing.. It said "Father Of The Bride" on it. So, I invited all of the dads with daughters to the floor and he threw it over. A lot of fun!
I then proceeded to play some great music. Julianne and Henrique are old souls and really loved music from the 70's and 80's... So that is where I was parked most of the evening. I occasionally detoured to play some new music and top 40, but always went back to what they requested...
All in all it was a really great party. The dance floor was full all evening and everyone truly had a great time!
