Wedding Reception at the Lavan Catering & Banquet Hall

On Saturday, November 14th, 2014 I had the honor of DJ/MCing Mary & Carlo Mendoza’s Reception at the beautiful Lavan Catering & Banquet Hall in Fort Lauderdale, FL. As guests arrived for the cocktail hour, I played a mixture of easy listening, light rock and pop music. Following the Cocktail Hour, we did our introductions. For the Bridal Party I played the song Happy by Pharrell Williams. Then, for Mary and Carlo, I played the song Can’t Feel My Face by The Weekend. For the first dance I played an edited song that Mary sent me prior to the event. Mary and Carlo did an awesome dance routine to the song and had the crowd cheering. Prior to dinner, we did the toasts and prayer. The best man Tommy delivered a heartfelt speech. And the Maid of Honor did an impressive slide show with music that I synced up to her slides. After the toasts, Uncle Glen delivered a very nice prayer for dinner. For the dinner service, I continued playing a similar variety of music and slowly transitioned into a more upbeat vibe. After dinner, I announced that the dance floor was open and invited all the guests out for dancing.  The floor filled within a few minutes and everyone danced the night away. Later in the evening, I announced that it was time for the cake cutting and for all the guests to gather round for photos. For the cake cutting I played the song Sugar by Maroon 5. After they cleaned themselves up, The rest of the evening was filled with a lot of dancing and smiles. They had such a good time that they booked me for an additional hour so they could keep dancing!  I had a great time DJing/MCing the Mendoza Reception and would like to extend a thank you to the friendly staff at the Lavan Catering & Banquet Hall.  DJ/MC Eric Olsen
