Good Day Bloggers!
DJ Gregg again, bringing you this weeks installment of the
wedding Blog.
Our story starts at the Long Key Nature Center in Davie.
A beautiful park with a great venue and hall for wedding receptions.
As the guests arrived from the ceremony, I was instructed to keep it funky, some South Beach style music was on tap.
After everybody was settled in, I introduced the bridal party using "Wannabe" by the Spice Girls and then the Bride and Groom were introduced to "Space Jam" by the
Quad City DJ's. Since they are big "90's fans, the chose these songs to come in to.
The first dance was "Everything I do" by Bryan Adams and then I played "Wonderful Tonight " for the rest of the guests and bridal party.
I always like to get everybody close to the bride and groom as early as possible in the party.
Since the dance floor was full, I then proceeded to play "I gotta feeling" by the Black Eyed Peas. It went over great! I could tell from early on that this was going to be a fun, dancing crowd!
I then proceeded to ask the maid of honor, best man and the father of the bride to say a few words on behalf of the bride and groom. Sean, the best man (Who also used Eddie B and Company for his wedding 8 years ago) was very funny, telling tales of the bride and groom that would make you blush!
Now we were ready to eat. I opened the serving stations and prepared the dinner with some light vocal and "Rat Pack" style music. You know, Frankie, Dino, Tony, Buble'. you get the picture.
Once dinner was over, I played the father daughter and mother son dances. "You Raise me up" and "I hope you find it" respectively.
I invited the guests up to dance again, and then the party started!
I was a young and young at heart crowd, so I kept the music fairly current,
I also played a lot of 90's and some classic Rock.
Mony Mony, Shout, The Cha Cha Slide, etc.
It was really a fun crowd.
About an hour before the party ended, I had them cut the cake and do the bouquet toss.
I played "How Sweet It is" for the cake and "I'm gonna get you" for the bouquet toss.
Once that was finished, I then did the "Anniversary Dance". This is when I invite the married couples to the dance floor and we see who has been married the longest.
The couple that won have been married for over 61 years! When I asked them to give words of advice and wisdom to the newlyweds, They both responded by saying "Never tell the other what you are doing"! The crowd lost it! Very Funny!
I then opened the floor again ad we danced the rest of the evening.
The last song of the night was a special request "Strokin" by Clarence Carter. Everybody was singing it!
It was great end to a great evening!
Thanks! DJ/MC Gregg Pellito
