Hello everyone,DJ Gregg again with another installment of the Wedding Blog! This issue brings us into the event of Daniel and Eleftheria. Our Groom is a DJ himself, having worked in countless clubs and guest DJ Gigs around the globe. Our Bride is a very successful lawyer. The reception was held at the Historic New River Inn on the River in Ft. Lauderdale. If you have never been there, make sure that you go. It is a beautiful venue. An old hotel that closed in the 1950's and turned into a museum. This wedding was extremely unique. The bride is of Greek decent and the majority of guests were the same. Not being Greek myself, I saw this as some what of a dilemma. Enter Daniel the Groom/DJ! He said not to worry and gave me hours of Greek Music to use! (BTW...I was able too keep the songs so I now consider myself a Greek DJ) (LOL)What a great event this was. As the guests arrived, I played some Indie rock per the Brides requests. The Smoking Popes, Weezer, Jimmy Eats World, Etc. I realize that this is not typical Wedding Cocktail Music, but the Bride and Groom are King and Queen as far as I 'm concerned and I try to do my best to accomodate them. After the Cocktail hour (which was actually 2 hours), we opened the reception area. This venue is outdoors and it was a great night. Not too breezy and excellent temperature. Perfect for dancing under the stars. After the guests settled in, I introduced the Bride and Groom only, per their request. I then proceeded to play their first dance "Green Eyes" by ColdPlay. After that, I invited the rest of the guests up to Al Green's "Lets Stay together". Now that everyone was on the floor, I started the party with Adele's "Rolling in the Deep" Dance Remix, again per the Bride and Grooms request. I danced them for a bit, then let the Groom and Best Man welcome everyone and do the Champagne toast, (Well not really Champagne, More like Ouzo Shots). Lets just say that no one was feeling any pain for the rest of the night. I then proceeded to play some traditional Greek And Cretan Music. The crowd went crazy! Everybody was on the floor and it was really great to watch! Lots of fun! Around this time we sat everybody down and had dinner. I then started the dancing again with a couple of slow songs, then into some Soulful House Music, per the Groom's request. Again the dance floor was packed. I then noticed that the Greek Trio ...yes, Greek Trio arrived. After they were set up, I proceded to introduce them and let the music band play for about 45 minutes. Again, very fun to watch. Once that was over, I invited the bride to dance with her father. "Fix You" by Coldplay was the requested song. Then I asked the Groom to dance with his mom. "Lullaby" by Billy Joel was on tap. I then invited the rest of the guests up and switched it over to some 80's music. "Don't Stop Believing" "Vacation" "Tainted Love" etc. you get the picture. All requests from the Bride and Groom.I also did the bouquet toss and the cake cutting. Nothing out of the ordinary there. By and large, it was a very unique event, with a lot of fun things happening. A memorable one indeed!ThanksDJ Gregg
