Wedding Reception at The Oasis / Islamorada
On Saturday November 11, 2023 I DJed Maddy and Kyle's wedding at the Oasis in Islamorada. The venue is absolutely beautiful with an oceanside pool. As the guests arrived I played tropical music from Bob Marley, steel drums from Bob Lyons, and Love Story by Taylor Swift. The guests took their seats by the ocean for the ceremony. The wedding party walked down to the instrumental version of Here Comes the Sun. Maddy's father was emotional as he walked his daughter down the aisle to the instrumental version of A Thousand Years. After a beautiful ceremony the newlyweds were pronounced husband and wife. I played Signed Sealed Delivered by Stevie Wonder as they walked up the aisle Mr and Mrs. Alverez!
During cocktail hour I played music like the Sweet Escape, Walking on Sunshine, reggae versions of popular songs, Brown Eyed Girl, It's 5 O-Clock Somewhere, Margaritaville, Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran. Next, the guests took their seats under the Tiki hut and it was time for the grand introductions. Best man Erick and Maid of Honor Abby got their own special song walking in to Pepas by Farruko. The rest of the bridal party walked in to Bring Em Out by TI. Finally I introduced Mr and Mrs Alvarez to ABBA - Gimme Gimme Gimme! Maddy and Kyle had their first dance to Growing Old With You by Restless Road. Next, Maddy danced with her father John to My Little Girl by Tim McGraw. Then Kyle danced with his mother Tami to Reba - You're Gonna Be My. During dinner Maddy's father, best man Erick and Maid of Honor Abby gave toasts.
After dinner the dancing began! The guests were high energy and danced through the night on the sand with the beautiful bright stars in the sky. Some of the songs I played are It Takes Two, Tootsie Roll, Let's Get Married, Yeah, Get Low, Wobble, and Skee Yee. The guests were dancing and having a great time!
We did a Longest Married Couple Dance where I played slow songs like Shania Twain - Still the One and Louis Armstrong - Wonderful World. I announced any couple married less than five hours leave the dance floor! Maddy and Kyle left and everyone applauded. I then asked anyone married less than five years, ten years, 15 years, 20 years until the last couple was standing who were married 35 years!
Kyle and Maddy did a sparkler send off as the guests lined up and made a sparkler tunnel for them to walk through and they got great pictures and video as I played The Roof is on Fire! Next Maddy presented her bouquet to her mother.
For the rest of the night people were shaking their booties to Akon - Belly Dancer, City Girls - Twerk, Cardi B - Up, Lil Wayne - Lollipop, Snoop - Drop it Like it's Hot, Lil Mama - Lip Gloss and My Humps.
I slowed it down with Ed Sheeran - Perfect and then we ended the night with Flo Rida - Club Can't Handle Me and Pitbull - Time of Our Lives.
I had a wonderful time DJing Maddy and Kyle's wedding and I wish them the best!
