On Saturday, May 10th I was at the Opal Grand Resort in Delray Beach for the wedding cocktail and reception of Virginia and Tim. The ceremony took place offsite at a nearby church. Guests were treated to an outdoor cocktail hour upon arrival, complete with passed hors d'oeuvres while I played a mix of Lo-Fi covers of familiar songs in the background. The reception room was brought to life by white LED up lighting, provided by Eddie B & Company. When it was time for introductions I invited everyone to stand with their napkins overhead as we welcomed Mr. and Mrs. Stebbins to This is What You Came For by Rihanna. The couple decided to do their first dance after toasts and dinner so after Tim twirled his bride around on the center of the dance floor, I invited everyone to find their seats and enjoy their dinner. Following toasts from the father of the bride, maid of honor and best man, we started with the parents dances. I first invited Tim to dance with his mother to I Say a Little Prayer by Aretha Franklin before Virginia’s father joined her on the dance floor for the father daughter dance to Soulful Strut by Young-Holt Unlimited. The final dance was saved for the bride and groom with Tim and Virginia taking center-stage, waltzing to This Will Be (An everlasting love) by Natalie Cole. The rest of the night was a party with a fusion of latin, dance music, mixed with 80s and 00s alternative for all the guests to enjoy. Once the guests were on the floor they did not want to leave. Thank you Virginia and Tim for allowing me to be a part of your special day. You were an awesome crowd and it was an absolute pleasure partying with you and your family. Best of luck to you - DJ ELOW
