On April 15,2011 Jesus and Margarita Fuentes were married and had a wonderful reception at the Rusty Pelican in Key Biscayne, FL. Jesus lives in Texas so most of our communication was by phone and e-mail. This wedding was 95% latin since Jesus is Mexican and Margarita is Colombian. They were married in a church near by and all guests showed up to cocktail hour just after the ceremony. Jesus chose a nice mix of music for cocktail hour and dinner that consisted of oldies (latin and american), spanish guitar and easy listening. After the cocktail hour the guest entered the ballroom and prepared for the intros. The bridal party including bride and groom entered to Que Bonita Es Esta Vida by Jorge Celedon. The first dance was Kilometros by Sin Banderas which half way through the song the bridal party was invited to join the bride and groom. Margarita's brother and Jesus' brother both made very heart felt toasts then Jesus' dad did the prayer before the meal. Everyone enjoyed a buffet style dinner and then the guests did what spanish people do so good, and that is dance, dance, dance. Margarita provided me a list of music that consisted of 210 song titles. Of course I was not able to play all of them so she asked me to use my judgment and play the ones that fit the best. Vallenatos, merengue, bachata, cumbia and reggaeton were the crowd favorites. It worked to perfection!! After the cutting of the cake and garter/bouquet toss, Margarita's family surprised the bride and groom with "la hora loca". La Hora Loca (the Crazy Hour) is the latin version of mardigrass/carnaval for an hour. Masks are given out along with noise makers, horns, hats and confetti. It was a great ending to the wedding that will be remembered by all. Special thanks to the staff at the Rusty Pelican for making the night special as always. I also want to wish good luck to Jesus and Margarita on their honeymoon to fabulous Hawaii.
