On Saturday July 3rd, 2011 I Played for Diane and Walter Cornwall at the Sea Ranch Lakes Beach Club, in Ft. Lauderdale. First of all this is a wonderful facility for any event on the Ocean, it has been remodeled and offers an inside party/dining area, bar/lounge section and an outside patio area that is very spacious. We started the evening with a cocktail reception and when Walter & Diane arrived in a Rolls Royce I introduced them to 90 family members and friends while playing "I Got A Feeling" by the B.E.P. Their first dance was "For You" by Kenny Latimore, and cheers and bubbles filled the air while Walter and Diane enjoyed this special song. After a surf n' turf dinner was served by Crystal Bay Caterers, (hats off to Sam & his staff for a first class presentation), I cranked up the tunes and the volume and for two solid hours the dance floor rocked. What was a little different about the playlist I followed, it was created by the groom, and was a great mix of music for dinner & dancing. I played everything from Marc Anthony, Grupo Niche, Elvis Crespo, Enrique Iglessias, Ricky Martin, and Juanes for Dianes' guests. Then I mixed Pitbull, Jennifer Lopez, E.W. & F., Chaka Khan, Lady Gaga, Usher, LMFAO, and Stevie Wonder for Walters' guests. This was a musical mix of different cultures and everyone partied & danced. Diane & Walter cut their wedding cake to "When I'm 64" by The Beatles and I dedicated "Wonderful World" to their mothers, Beatriz and Virginia. The highlight of the evening is when Walter sang to Diane (accapella), "All The Way" a Sinatra tune that he rehearsed all week. It went over big time!!!!! Then Diane surprised walter with a Mariachi Band for the last 20 minutes of the reception. I truly enjoyed playing for this couple and working with Walter on the music playlist because this was very important to him. Congrats and all the best...DJ/MC Eddie B!
