Good Day DJ Blog readers!
DJ Gregg here with another installment for you.
This time, we go on a journey to the W hotel in Ft. Lauderdale on December 6th, 2014.
Meagan and Andrew chose Ft. Lauderdale to be their destination for the wedding. Being from Chicago, this was a very different atmosphere. I guess it is a little cold to do a wedding in Chicago in December :)
During the cocktail hour, I was asked to give the atmosphere a "South Beach" flavor. Done!!
Next we went to the main ballroom. It was decorated beautifully with up lights provided by Eddie B. and Company. The light purple color they requested was a perfect accent.
As the guests arrived, I played some great down tempo house music. Nothing over the top... Just a nice sound to tell everyone that we were in for a party!
When I introduced the Bride and Groom, the room erupted!
I then went into their first dance "Is this Love" by Bob Marley. After that I played "let's stay together" by Al Green for all of the guests to dance. Since the dance floor was packed, I decided to pump it up and played "I Gotta Feeling" by the Black Eyed Peas. It went over great!
I could tell that this was gonna be a good night...
I then asked everyone to sit down and invited Diana the Maid of Honor to say a few words.
Dinner was then served. I played a lot of songs while they ate that were special requests from Meagan and Andrew. Artists like: Odesza, Amy Winehouse, Ingrid Michelson, The Lumineers, etc. Some great Indie vocals.
After dinner I did the parent dances. "Across the Universe" by the Beatles and "Stand By Me" by Ben E. King.
Now we get the party going!
I knew early on that this was a dancing crowd and they did not disappoint. I played a lot of Top 40 and new dance songs, as well as the classics and some oldies.
There was no garter or bouquet toss, but they cut the cake a fed each other while "Cut The Cake" by AWB played.
After that we got the party going again and I continued until the end of the night.
Another great party!!!
