Wedding Reception at the Westin Hotel / Ft. Lauderdale

Janelle and John Pughe celebrated their wedding at the Westin Hotel and Resort in Ft. Lauderdale, FL on 7/12/2014.  The ceremony took place at a church so soon after the happy couple tied the knot all of the approximate 220 guests were invited to the Westin for the cocktail hour and reception. At the cocktail hour I played a mix of Rat Pack favorites while everyone enjoyed drinks and appetizers. While all of the guests mingled at the cocktail hour I decorated the main ballroom with 24 amber colored, LED, wireless up-lights and dance floor lights all provided by Eddie B & Company. As soon as the ballroom doors opened, all of the guests entered and found their seats while I lined up the 37 member bridal party for the grand entrance. Janelle chose Life in Technicolor by Coldplay for the bridal party into including her and John. The firsts dance was to Free by Zac Brown Band then John danced with his mother to A Song For Mama by Boyz II Men and Janelle danced with her dad to a mix of What A Wonderful World by L. Armstrong and Think by Aretha Franklin. The guests were surprised by the funny mix and enjoyed every minute. The toasts were given by Jordonne (maid of honor), Kyle (best man), both proud dads and John himself. The blessing of the meal was given by Uncle Rick then the first of a 3 course meal was served. Janelle did prove me with a great play list with plenty of individual requests for a few family members. I played a mix of top 40, country, 70's and 80's, disco and funk. I loved the fact that this crowd was very energetic and danced the entire evening. There was no garter/bouquet toss but one of the groomsman asked that we perform a Danish tradition of throwing the groom in the air and holding him up while someone cuts the tip of his sox off so he never leaves his home!!!! That was a first for me. Another first was the 37 member bridal party!! Everyone danced the night away and showered the happy couple with their best wishes during the closing song which was Saints and Angels by Sharon Shannon. Congrats to Janelle, John and the entire Rhodes and Pughe families. Great wedding with some amazing folks!!!!
